It’s a rock-n-roll and orchestra marriage with the Illinois Symphony Orchestra presenting the Best of Queen & Journey with Jeans 'n Classics on Friday, April 22 at the Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts.
Music Director Ken Lam said the Illinois Symphony Orchestra "has a few opportunities to bring in something quite different … we try to collaborate with people from not the classical genre.” And that is where Peter Brennan of Jeans 'n Classics comes in, with their brand of combining classic rock with symphonies.
Brennan has been uniting these two musical worlds for decades now and fully believes in the power of original rock-n-roll songs and the power that an orchestra can bring to these pieces.
“If you’ve not been to see what we do … the idea of a rock band with an orchestra, it is a wonderful and very special experience. The orchestra is in no way a back-up item…they are front and center with the group, that’s the way we like it," Brennan said.
