UPDATE: Peoria City Councilman Zach Oyler Released After Domestic Battery Arrest

Peoria At-Large City Councilman Zach Oyler was arrested Tuesday for aggravated domestic battery.

The councilman was also booked for interfering with a report of domestic violence and unlawful restraint. Aggravated domestic battery is a felony charge.

Peoria Police Chief Loren Marion said police responded to a house in the 3000 block of N. Bigelow around 9:30 p.m., where an adult woman alleged she was battered by Oyler. His listed home address is 3015 N. Bigelow.

Oyler was appointed to the council in 2017 to fill a vacancy, and was elected to a full term last spring.

Oyler was released on $100 bond on Wednesday. His wife received an emergency order of protection against him.
