Brandy Bryant will serve in Rachael Parker’s old seat on the Peoria County Board.
District 5 includes Central Peoria. Parker stepped down to become Peoria County Clerk after Steve Sonnemaker died this summer.
Bryant is director of Peoria Public Schools’ Full Services Community Schools Initiative.
She was born and raised in Peoria. She holds an education degree from Illinois Central College.
The Peoria County Board is expected to appoint Bryant to the seat on Thursday. Like Parker, Bryant is a Democrat. She will serve until December 2020.
