For Halloween this year, Peoria is dressing up as a winter day.

The National Weather Service said the 3.9 inches of snow Peoria recieved Thursday set a record for Oct. 31. Peoria Public Works Superintendent of Operations Sie Maroon said snowfall on Halloween hasn't happened here since 1918.

Snow plows are out treating primary arterial routes during the morning commute. Maroon said the city will maintain these streets until the snowfall stops and streets are in good travel conditions.

Minor accidents are reported throughout the greater Peoria area Thursday morning. Both the city of Peoria and Peoria County were under traffic collision alerts Thursday morning.
