One of the four women featured in the award-winning documentary Knock Down the House will be at UIS Thursday.
Cori Bush is running for Congress in a St. Louis area district. Knock Down the House followed her during her campaign in 2018 to become Missouri’s first black congresswoman. She will speak following a showing of the film at 6 p.m. Thursday at Brookens Auditorium on the lower level of Brookens Library.
Bush said she was inspired to run for Congress following the 2014 shooting of Michael Brown, an unarmed teen who was shot by police. Bush, a nurse and pastor, also became an ardent activist, leading protests and other civil rights actions in Missouri and throughout the country. She has directed Truth Telling, an international antiviolence campaign.
