As part of the Peoria City Council’s efforts to cut expenses, expect to see grass reach new heights. The council approved slashing in half the number of times right-of-ways are mowed this summer, which could result in grass reaching a height of 15 inches along roadways. The council is still considering changes to its vacant lot mowing program. City councilmembers also have some good news for Peoria homeowners -- the sewer fee increases have been delayed for a few months. The rate was set to increase in May but will be delayed until August out of concern for the large number of residents facing unemployment at this time. Expect more discussion on ways to cut expenses and save money at a special meeting set for next week.
