Police in the northern Marshall County city of Henry say there's no cause for alarm after a pair of fishermen claimed they caught a human foot in the Illinois River.
In a statement, the department said the foot caught in the marina Sunday evening is a fake. There were no genuine human remains found, police said.
Videos circulating on Facebook claiming a foot was found in Henry are false, police said.
Genuine human remains have turned up in the river in recent years. A skull found near Kingston Mines in 2017, and a torso found in Schulyer County near Browning in 2016 were both later identified as belonging to John H. Frisch of Peoria.
