A tornado briefly touched down near South Pekin as severe thunderstorms slowly rolled through Central Illinois on Wednesday afternoon.
A trained spotter reported the touchdown just south of the Tazewell County village around 1:45 p.m. A spotter also reported a tornado at 1:37 p.m. about two miles northwest of Green Valley.
A tornado warning for Tazewell County expired at 2:15 p.m. No damage or injuries reported in either incident as of 2:45 p.m.
Much of the wider central Illinois region is under a tornado watch until 9 p.m. Wednesday. This includes Peoria, Tazewell, Woodford, Fulton, Mason nad McLean counties.
Hail up to 1.5 inches in diameter and wind gusts up to 75 mph also are possible.
