Rich Brodrick is the new interim chief of the East Peoria Police Department.
The appointment comes after Steve Roegge resigned last Friday after a little less than two years on the job. He previously served 31 years in Peoria before retiring from that city's police department.
It's unclear why Roegge stepped down with time still remaining on his contract.
Brodrick was previously a deputy chief in East Peoria. The city council will formally vote on Tuesday to approve his interim appointment as head of the department.
