Most of central Illinois is now at a coronavirus warning level.
This includes Peoria, Tazewell and Woodford counties. All three exceed targets prescribed by the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) on new cases per 100,000 people, numbers of tests performed, and test positivity rates.
Peoria and Tazewell counties also are at warning levels for the number of people with a COVID-like illness visiting the ER.
The Tri-County region has reported 325 new COVID-19 cases over the past 24 hours.
This includes 151 new cases in Peoria County, another 151 in Tazewell, and 23 in Woodford.
Four more people also died. They include women in their 80s and 90s living at Peoria's Christian Buehler Home; and a Tazewell County man in his 70s and woman in her 80s both living at Generations at Riverview in East Peoria. This brings the regional death toll to 167 from COVID complications since March.
There are 104 people hospitalized for COVID-19 in local hospitals; 27 of those patients are in intensive care.
Region 2's positivity rate shows no signs of abating, reaching a new record high of 10.7% on Friday.
In all, the IDPH reported a grim new record of 10,376 new COVID-19 cases statewide over a 24-hour stretch on Friday. Forty-nine more people died, bringing the statewide death toll to 10,009.
Seventy-five of Illinois' 102 counties are now at a coronavirus warning level. The state's seven-day rolling positivity rate is 11.1%.
