Knox County Man Charged With Holding, Torturing Woman For Several Days

A Knox County man faces charges of holding a woman against her will and torturing her for four days at his house.The Knox County Sheriff's Office said 25-year-old Braden Mallery of rural Lafayette was arrested on several charges, included aggravated kidnapping, aggravated domestic battery, interfering with a domestic battery report, possession of a firearm by a felon, and violation of the FOID Card Act.

Mallery reportedly held the woman in his garage.

Police seized a gun, ammunition, and methamphetamine from Mallery's residence.

The woman was taken to OSF Saint Mary's Medical Center in Galesburg with multiple injuries, including burns, abrasions, cuts, bruises, and broken bones.

Police said Mallery shot the woman multiple times with a CO2-powered weapon, injured her with a drill-powered wire brush, and punched or hit her with various weapons. Knox County State's Attorney Jeremy Karlin said Mallery also used a torch lighter to burn the woman.

Police also said children were in the house during the abuse. DCFS was notified.

Mallery is being held in the Knox County Jail.
