Police Make Arrest In Fatal Hit-And-Run Crash In Peoria

UPDATED 3:40 P.M. | Police in Peoria arrested a woman in connection with a fatal hit-and-run crash on Friday evening.According to a news release from the Peoria Police Department, officers arrested Diana Marie Schick, 40, on preliminary charges of driving under the influence, hit and run with injury/death and other charges for her alleged role in a three-vehicle crash in the 100 block of South Western Avenue shortly before 6 p.m.

Shick was taken to the Peoria County Jail.

The Peoria Fire Department said two people had to be extricated from their vehicle after it had rolled on to its passenger site. One woman who was pinned under the wreckage died at the scene. The Peoria County Coroner’s office has not yet released her identity, pending notification of family.

Three people were also taken to local hospitals, according to police. The extent of their injuries is not known.

Police said Peoria County Sheriff’s deputies found the vehicle and suspected driver in West Peoria.

Peoria PD’s traffic unit is still investigating the crash.
