A Fulton County man is dead after his body was discovered in an icy pond in rural Astoria.
The Fulton County Sheriff's Office said Henry Umphryes, 62, of Vermont, was reported missing by friends. He was last heard from on Feb. 1. His vehicle was found west of Astoria, and fishing items were spotted on the ice of a nearby pond.
After ice was removed from the pond, the Mason County ESDA Dive Team deployed a boat equipped with sonar equipment on Friday.
Umphryes' body was recovered, and Fulton County Coroner Steve Hines was called to the scene.
