McLean County health officials report two more deaths linked COVID-19.
Both are women—one in her 60s and the other in her 70s—who did not live in long-term care facilities. Their deaths bring the county’s total since the start of the pandemic to 227.
The McLean County Health Department (MCHD) reported 41 new confirmed or probable coronavirus cases on Tuesday, as the testing positivity rate (7-day rolling) rose half a percentage point to 3%.
The new cases were found in a batch of about 700 test results returned overnight. The county’s total caseload since last March is now 18,164.
One additional McLean County resident is now being treated for COVID complications, bringing the total to 22 hospitalized patients. About 11% of Bloomington-Normal hospital beds are open. Intensive care beds are 89% full.
About 230 COVID vaccines have been administered in McLean County in the past day, bringing the total just below 136,700.
The county officially reached 37% of the population fully vaccinated, according to Illinois Department of Public Health data.
