McLean County COVID Hospitalizations, Active Caseload Rise

Staff / WGLT
There are 25 more McLean County residents being treated for COVID-19 complications. The number of hospitalizations has been steadily increasing all week.

McLean County health officials added 25 new confirmed or probable COVID-19 cases on Thursday. The county’s testing positivity rate held at 3.1%, while hospitalizations and active cases increased.

The McLean County Health Department (MCHD) reports 25 residents are hospitalized with coronavirus complications. That’s an increase of two patients overnight. Hospitalizations have been steadily climbing since Monday.

The county broke a nearly two-week streak in a declining active caseload. That figure is now 251, with 226 people isolating at home. An additional nine people are now considered recovered.

Thursday's cases were found in a batch of about 1,400 test results returned overnight. To date, McLean County has reported 18,209 COVID-19 cases. The county’s death toll since the start of the pandemic is 227.

About 138,400 coronavirus vaccine doses have been administered in McLean County, according to MCHD data. More than 65,000 county residents are fully vaccinated. That’s about 37.6% of the population.

Registration for newly-announced MCHD vaccine clinics opens at 11 a.m. on Thursday. Walk-in appointments are welcome, but pre-registration is encouraged. Those interested also can contact the county’s COVID call center at (309) 888-5600.
