The McLean County Health Department is reporting 14 new COVID=19 cases on Tuesday.

The McLean County Health Department (MCHD) is reporting 14 new confirmed or probable COVID-19 cases Tuesday. That’s the lowest single-day total reported since March 4, when the department confirmed just 12 infections.

The new cases were found in a batch of about 400 test results returned in the past day. McLean County’s testing positivity rate (7-day rolling) held at 2.4%.

The active caseload continues to drop to its lowest level in nearly three months. Twenty-six county residents remain hospitalized with COVID-19. Another 161 people are isolating at home, while an additional 49 are now considered recovered.

Bed capacity in Bloomington-Normal hospitals held at 14%, but intensive care unit capacity improved slightly—73% of ICU beds are occupied, down from 81% the day before.

The county’s death toll since the start of the pandemic is 227. The total caseload has reached 18,298.

MCHD data show 143,940 doses of the COVID vaccine have been administered in McLean County, so far. Just under 68,000 county residents are fully vaccinated, according to the latest state figures. That’s about 39.3% of the population.

MCHD is encouraging those in need of their second dose of the Pfizer or Moderna vaccine to contact the COVID call center at (309) 888-5600. The health department can assist people who received their first dose outside of McLean County.

Registration is still open for county-run vaccine clinics this week. Walk-in appointments are available, too. For more information, visit MCHD’s website.
