Located near the Constitution Trail just minutes from Uptown Normal, the new home of Illinois Art Station on Vernon Avenue will feature studio spaces, a public gallery, and outdoor space that will encourage visitors to explore, observe, and create.

Since 2016 the Illinois Art Station has provided community youth and their families transformative, hands-on learning through the visual arts. Since it began programming in 2018, Illinois Art Station has served more than 2,900 children and their families.

The organization's new facility at 101 E. Vernon Ave. in Normal opens in September, with plans for a Pop Into IAS artmaking event and grand opening celebration and fundraiser.

This week on Datebook, WGLT's Ariele Jones speaks with Illinois Art Station executive director Laura Jaster about the organization's evolution and new permanent home.

Ariele Jones is WGLT's assistant program director and host of Morning Edition, Highway 309, and Center Stage.
