A new Love's Truck Stop and adjoining RV park could be coming to north Normal. The proposed location of the site is the northwest corner of Interstate 55 and North Main Street.
Normal Town Planner Mercy Davison said the location is "perfect" for that type of use.
“Clearly being right at the point at which there’s the interstate interchange makes it very convenient for travelers. But it’s also in a part of town that is buffered by two major, major streets,” said Davison, adding that Main Street and the interstate are both “very wide and already lit.”
“To put this right at that interchange — you probably couldn’t come up with a better location in the community for this,” she said.
Davison said there’s no timeline for the project yet, adding the proposed site is farmland currently planted with row crops.
The town's planning commission will hold a public hearing on the proposal Sept. 9.
