Kyle Brennan is sticking around as Illinois State University’s director of athletics for the next five years.
On Tuesday, ISU gave him a contract extension worth $1.2 million, with a yearly salary of $242,892. Brennan has the chance to receive a maximum yearly bonus of $20,000 for athletic and academic success. The contract expires in 2027.
Brennan took over the role of director of athletics in December 2020. He currently represents ISU and the Missouri Valley Conference as committee chair for its directors of athletics.
Illinois State athletics has seen numerous teams win conference championships under Brennan. In 2021, the women’s basketball and volleyball teams both qualified for the NCAA tournament, and ISU won five championships across its sports programs during the 2021-22 school year.
Student-athletes also saw success in the classroom. The average GPA for a student-athlete in Spring 2022 was 3.27. In all, 112 students recorded a perfect 4.0 GPA.
