OSF HealthCare using remote monitoring program honed during COVID-19 pandemic to manage RSV patients

The respiratory virus RSV hit earlier than usual this winter. Coupled with a wave of influenza cases, central Illinois hospitals have struggled to manage limited bed space.

OSF HealthCare has launched a remote patient monitoring program for people with RSV. It's similar to the model the hospital system leveraged during the COVID-19 pandemic.

In this edition of Sound Health, OSF HealthCare chief operating officer Dr. Mike Cruz and OSF OnCall Digital Health Chief Medical Officer Dr. Matt Gorman discuss the respiratory illness environment — and how the new RSV monitoring program helps patients manage illness at home in this conversation with Tim Shelley, starting with Dr. Cruz.

Tim Shelley is the News Director at WCBU Peoria Public Radio.
