The community celebrated Juneteenth on Saturday at Miller Park.
The event was hosted by the Bloomington-Normal Black History Project in partnership with the City of Bloomington. It commemorated African American freedom and emphasized education and achievement.
Juneteenth, also known as Freedom Day, is a day to observe the end of slavery in the U.S. Events and parades are held across the country to honor this momentous occasion.
