A residential recycling dropoff location will be moving July 10 to a new location in west Normal.

The recycling dropoff location at Chiddix Junior High School in Normal will move to YouthBuild McLean County's parking lot at 360 Wylie Drive, Normal.

The move is intended to better serve west side and out-of-town residents by improving recycling access, according to the Ecology Action Center. The EAC maintains up-to-date information on all recycling and waste services in the area.

In a statement, YouthBuild said this move is an opportunity "to engage the west side community in recycling while providing students with a hands-on learning experience about the importance of recycling materials used at the school."

"We are thrilled to partner with the EAC and Midwest Fiber to host the recycling dropoff," said YouthBuild executive director Tracey Parson.

The other recycling dropoff locations are:

  • Jewel-Osco on Cottage Avenue
  • Walmart on Greenbriar Drive
  • Northwest corner of the Heartland Community College campus

These recycling access points are the only available option for some users who do not have curbside recycling. They're jointly funded by the Town of Normal, City of Bloomington, and McLean County.
