1 young person is injured in latest shooting incidents in Normal

The number of people shot in Bloomington-Normal over the last eight days is now four. None of the injuries has been life-threatening.

Police in Normal said a juvenile male received treatment at Carle BroMenn Medical Center on Saturday night following gunfire in an apartment in the 700 block of Orlando Avenue.

Bullets also hit a residence in Normal in the area of Summit and Bakewell on Sunday evening, though no one was injured in that incident.

It is unknown if the shooting incidents are related.

Previous shootings

The weekend before, three people were shot: two in Normal and one in Bloomington. The shooting in Normal was early Aug. 6 near South Linden Street and Lindell Drive that also resulted in multiple bullet strikes to apartments and vehicles. A man and a woman went to the hospital.

In Bloomington early on Aug. 7, a man was shot in the 500 block of West Grove Street.
