The Bloomington-Normal economy added 400 jobs over the last year, according to the Illinois Department of Employment Security (IDES).

The area's jobless rate fell to 4% compared with September, an increase from the 3.3% rate one year ago — a sign that more people are entering the workforce.

The Bloomington-Normal job market, which includes McLean and DeWitt counties, saw the most job gains in Government [+400], Leisure and Hospitality [+300], Manufacturing [+200] and Retail Trade [+200].

The area saw the most job losses in Professional and Business Services, Financial Activities and Mining-Construction. Each saw a drop of about 200 jobs.

According to IDES, the Bloomington-Normal labor market payroll stands at 99.000.

The Bloomington-Normal unemployment rate of 4% ranks as the lowest in Illinois, which posted a statewide rate of 4.5% last month.

Decatur and Rockford have the highest jobless rates in the state at 6.1%.
