The interim president of Illinois State University will not be heading to an inaugural position with Indiana University-Indianapolis next summer.

According to a news release from the Indiana University system, Latha Ramchand, current executive vice chancellor and provost of the University of Missouri, has accepted the chancellorship position at IU-Indianapolis.
ISU interim president Aondover Tarhule was a finalist for the position late last month.
The IU-Indianapolis chancellorship is a new position, a byproduct of both IU and Purdue University governing boards voting to dissolve a decades-long, jointly-run institution known as Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis (IUPUI).
IU-Indianapolis will take over the bulk of academic programming once offered by IUPUI, and will continue ownership of the Indianapolis campus. Purdue University, which has a flagship campus in West Lafayette, will absorb IUPUI's Department of Computer Science and School of Engineering and Technology, creating what will be called Purdue University in Indianapolis.
Ramchand is slated to become the first chancellor of IU-Indianapolis on Feb. 12.
Tarhule, who has been serving as interim ISU president since February, has an agreement with ISU's governing body to remain in that role until June 30, 2024.
