The lawn in front of downtown Bloomington’s Center for the Performing Arts is the setting for a new outdoor concert series aligned with First Fridays.
Tickets are $5, but patrons can show proof of purchase at any downtown business to waive the fee.
The line-up includes an eclectic mix of tribute bands. On June 7, Catalina Wine Mixer plays a collection of Yacht Rock-y ‘70s hits. JUMP, a tribute band focused on the first six Van Halen albums, appears July 5. A country double-bill on Aug. 2 includes Chris Stapleton cover band Tennessee Whiskey and the Ultimate Eric Church Tribute. and on Sept. 6, Too Hype Crew plays old-school hip hop and R&B.
Saturdays on the Square returns beginning with a special May 4 edition. The free 5 p.m. concert aligns with the Route 66 Red Carpet Corridor Festival features Bloomington native Matthew Curry.
All First Friday concerts begin at 7 p.m. Gates to the BCPA lawn open at 6 p.m.
