Authorities are asking for the public's help finding a suspect who sexually assaulted a victim and threatened another with a knife in an off-campus apartment near Illinois State University.
Normal Police say officers responded to reports of a home invasion around 7:15 a.m. Sunday in an apartment in the 200 block of West Willow Street in Normal. That's just a few blocks north of the ISU campus.
The suspect reportedly entered an unlocked apartment occupied by two people, police said. He sexually assaulted one of them and threatened the other before leaving on foot, police said.
ISU Police issued a campus crime advisory Sunday night.
Normal Police released what appears to be surveillance footage showing the suspect. They described him as a 6-foot tall Black male in his mid-20s. The suspect is described as having short black hair and brown eyes and was wearing a black trucker’s hat with a white icon, silver earrings, a short-sleeved black button up, white T-shirt, tan pants, and black Nike shoes.
Anyone with information is asked to contact Normal Police Detective M. Searby at 309-454-9535 or msearby@normalil.gov.
