Police arrest suspect after sexual assault and home invasion at off-campus apartment near ISU

Normal Police said Monday afternoon that an arrest has been made in this case. A 26-year-old from Normal faces preliminary charges of aggravated criminal sexual assault and home invasion.

Authorities are asking for the public's help finding a suspect who sexually assaulted a victim and threatened another with a knife in an off-campus apartment near Illinois State University.

Normal Police say officers responded to reports of a home invasion around 7:15 a.m. Sunday in an apartment in the 200 block of West Willow Street in Normal. That's just a few blocks north of the ISU campus.

The suspect reportedly entered an unlocked apartment occupied by two people, police said. He sexually assaulted one of them and threatened the other before leaving on foot, police said.

ISU Police issued a campus crime advisory Sunday night.
