Registration for the free membership can be done in person at any Planet Fitness club, or through the company’s website.

In a collaboration aimed at fostering youth health and well-being, the Illinois High School Association [IHSA] has partnered with health club chain Planet Fitness to offer a free fitness initiative for high school students across Illinois.

Starting June 1 and through Aug. 31, the summer pass will grant complimentary access to any of the state's Planet Fitness locations, including in Bloomington, for students ages 14 to 19.

“We recognize that for some students, especially in the summer, Planet Fitness may be a more viable option than training at a high school or other venue,” said IHSA Executive Director Craig Anderson, adding the program promotes physical and emotional health for students.

Registration can be done in person at any Planet Fitness club, or through the company’s website. The Planet Fitness in Bloomington is located at Eastland Mall.

Students under the age of 18 will need to have a parent or guardian to complete the registration process on their behalf.

Parent company PLNTF Holdings, based in Rosemont, Illinois, operates 92 Planet Fitness locations, including more than 40 clubs in Illinois.
