3 things to do this weekend: 2 fun fundraisers and Lucinda Williams at the Castle

Here are 3 things to do for the weekend of June 14-16, 2024, curated by WGLT's Lauren Warnecke. You can find more coverage on our Datebook - Arts & Music page or by subscribing to WGLT's Weekend Scoop email newsletter, which goes out every Friday.

Make it a century: Ambitious types can piece together Midwest Food Bank’s 20-, 40- and 60-mile bike routes through scenic parts of McLean and Woodford County to make it a century ride—and why not? New this year, this fully supported charity ride now has Woody & Bubba’s waiting for you at the finish line for celebratory pulled pork sandwiches. 6:30 a.m. – 1 p.m. Saturday kicking off at Midwest Food Bank; $40 registration fee at team224.org.

Look, don't cook: On any other day, it would be creepy to let yourself into someone’s home to look around, but glimpsing stunning kitchens around town is the whole point of Lavender & Lemons. This popular tour of homes raises funds for Illinois Symphony Orchestra’s education initiatives. 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Saturday; tickets $25 available at The Garlic Press, The Olive Bin, Casey’s Garden Shop & Florist, Hy-Vee Customer Service Desk, Growing Grounds, AB Hatchery and Wendell Niepagen Greenhouses. ilsymphony.org.

A country soul with a rock 'n' roll heart: Among the greatest singer/songwriters of her generation, Lucinda Williams is out with new music—more than four decades after releasing her first album. Seated tickets are sold out; those who can stand for a few hours should do it at the Castle tonight. 8 p.m. Friday (doors at 7 p.m.); tickets $40-$43 at thecastletheatre.com.
