Smell the roses: Visitors can choose their level of engagement at this weekend’s Glorious Garden Festival at David Davis Mansion. Take a free tour of the house and gardens, shop the vendor fair or get a deeper dive with paid admission to inspiring private gardens around Bloomington-Normal. For the kiddos, Bloomington Public Library staff lead a scavenger hunt and story time in Sarah’s Garden. 1-7 p.m. Friday and Saturday; garden walk tickets $20-$22 (discounts for children), available at area businesses and daviddavismansion.org.
Cut a rug: Peoria-based Latin dancer and DJ Eduardo Caballero gives instruction to set you up for success to salsa under the stars in Mackinaw Valley Vineyard’s idyllic pavilion. 7:30-11 p.m. Friday (check-in, snacks and wine tasting at 6:30 p.m.); $10 at the door. Reservations available at 309-359-9463. mackinawvalleyvineyard.com.
Love to Laugh? Here's a show for you: For their summer musical, the Community Players bring Disney’s beloved au pair and chimney sweep to life with Mary Poppins, the latter played by familiar face Jessa Benson. The roles of Poppins’ charges, adorable tots Jane and Michael Banks, are split by equally adorable Olivia Prescott and Kahleesi Elder and CPT newbies James Morey and Gabe Montgomery. Through July 28 at Community Players Theatre; tickets $10-$20 at 309-663-2121 and communityplayers.org.
