Community members are invited to audition for a first-ever shadow cast impersonating characters from the 1975 cult classic, screening Oct. 24-26, 2024 at the Normal Theater.

The Normal Theater has a long-running tradition of screening Rocky Horror Picture Show around Halloween. And this year, the venue will present the 1975 cult classic with a Community Players Theatre shadow cast.

The historic cinema in Uptown Normal has partnered with the Community Players to bring Dr. Frank-n-Furter, Janet and Brad to life. Auditions to participate in the shadow cast take place Sept. 16 and 17 at the Normal Theater. Tickets are $15, on sale at normaltheater.com.

Ashleigh Rae-Lynn will serve as director for the production that runs Oct. 24-26.

The Bloomington Center for the Performing Arts has its own Rocky Horror screening with a live shadow cast and audience participation on Oct. 11, including a special appearance from Nell Campbell, who originated the role of Columbia. Tickets start at $27, and are on sale at 309-434-2777 and artsblooming.org.

Costumes are welcome and encouraged at both screenings. The BCPA’s policies restrict rice, water guns, candles, confetti, toast and hot dogs. Newspapers, rubber gloves and party hats are allowed. The Normal Theater will have a limited number of prop bags for sale. Food, liquids, fire and glitter are prohibited.
