Bloomington High School has inducted two graduates into its Hall of Fame, while District 87’s Hall of Fame also has added two new members.
The Bloomington High School Hall of Fame honorees are Jennifer Cully and Dorothy Stewart.
Cully, from the BHS class of 1987, coached professional golfers on the LPGA Tour for years. She played on the women’s golf team at Illinois State University after being a three-sport standout in high school.
Cully “showcased the power of determination and breaking barriers for women in sports,” the district said in a news release.
Stewart, a 1951 graduate, was the first Black woman to serve as director of public housing in Peoria as part of a long career in public service. She also recently went skydiving at age 91.
The district said Stewart is “renowned for her leadership and advocacy for equity and inclusion.”
District 87’s two Hall of Fame inductees are Jack Ingold and Suzanne Essington Daniels.
Ingold served on the school board from 1972 to 1987, including nine years as president. He died in 2012.
The district said Ingold was a “true advocate for education and community service.”
Daniels worked 39 years in the district’s human resources department, where district officials said she modernized the district’s personnel system and transformed the hiring and documentation process.
Daniels set “exemplary standards that are maintained to this day,” the district said.
The inductees will be honored during a Sept. 13 homecoming football game at Bloomington High School.
