Illinois State University's efforts to close a structural budget deficit include current year spending cuts of nearly $5.6 million.
Last week, WGLT reported the provost's office sent a letter detailing a $3.2 million general fund spending reduction for Academic Affairs. That's the largest single division at ISU.
Now, the university has responded to WGLT’s Freedom of Information Act request detailing rescissions in other divisions as well.
They include include more than $1.1 million for Finance and Planning, $1 million for student affairs, $123,000 for University Advancement, $101,000 from the Office of the President, and $52,000 from Athletics.
The university also has imposed a pay freeze for workers next year and created a task force to look for other ways to close the structural deficit.
Absent any action, president Aondover Tarhule confirmed several weeks ago that ISU would face a $32 million deficit in three years’ time.
