A doctor who worked at OSF St. Joseph Medical Center in Bloomington is facing felony charges after allegedly soliciting and engaging in sexual acts with a minor.

Kynan Brown, 41, faces two counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and one count of traveling to meet a minor, according to documents from the Ford County state's attorney.

The charges indicate Brown, who had been selected last year as one of the first members of a family medicine program at OSF's Bloomington hospital, communicated with a Gibson City teenager online before meeting the teen and engaging in multiple sexual acts. Gibson City is about 35 miles east of Bloomington-Normal.

Brown was charged on Thursday, Oct. 10.

As of early Tuesday morning, Brown was still in custody at the Ford County Jail in Paxton, pending a preliminary hearing.

OSF Healthcare said in a statement it is aware of the situation and "takes it very seriously."

"We are following all necessary internal policies and procedures and are unable to share further details related to employment matters," the healthcare provider said.
