Acuity Optical Laboratories of Normal has announced 99 layoffs that are scheduled for Dec. 20, 2024.

An optical manufacturing business in Normal plans to eliminate nearly 100 jobs by the end of the year.

Acuity Optical Laboratories, which operates under the name Identity Optical, at 2221 W. College Ave., has notified the state the company plans eliminate 99 jobs. The company lists Dec 20 as the first date for layoffs.

The layoff notice is included in Illinois’ monthly WARN report that’s compiled as part of the Worker Adjustment and Retraining Notification Act.

Company representatives have not immediately responded to WGLT’s requests for comment.

It's the biggest round of layoffs in Bloomington-Normal since another optical company, Keplr Vision, announced 100 layoffs in August.
