The City of Bloomington’s Arts & Entertainment Department has announced the Bloomington Center For The Performing Arts [BCPA] had its best attendance month in history in November.
The BCPA broke records last month with 11,481 patrons visiting the venue for 12 performances and the Thanksgiving farmers market, a free event that moved from Grossinger Motors Arena because of a scheduling conflict with the Bloomington Bison hockey team.
“Last month, more than ever, we were able to see the vision that we have strived for come to fruition,” said Arts & Entertainment Director Anthony Nelson.
The BCPA hosted a variety of acts in November, including “Menopause The Musical 2”, as well as performances from Josh Gates, Craig Ferguson, Ben Folds and “Postmodern Jukebox."
Other acts last month included “The Hip Hop Nutcracker” and “A Celtic Christmas” along with performances from Patty Griffin and Stephen Pearcy.
Grossinger Motors Arena also saw a large number of patrons last month. Together, Bloomington Bison Hockey and a REO Speedwagon concert attracted saw 19,719 guests.
Among the acts the BCPA has scheduled for next year include singer-songwriters Dwight Yoakam and Brantley Gilbert.
“Our department is proud to be working towards making downtown Bloomington a destination for entertainment throughout Central Illinois, and making our venues a host to a diverse lineup of big names and great acts,” said Nelson.
