New traffic lights will be activated Monday at two locations along Fort Jesse Road in north Normal.

The traffic signals are located at the Fort Jesse and Landmark Drive and at Fort Jesse and Greenbriar Drive intersections. That's just to the west and east of Veterans Parkway, in a crowded commercial and residential area where crossing traffic to turn can be difficult.

The traffic signals will be activated at both intersections. Drivers are urged to use caution when traveling through the area.

The Normal Town Council approved the project earlier this year. The new signals are aimed at improving traffic safety.
