Jared Williamson will be the 17th head coach in Illinois Wesleyan football history.

Illinois Wesleyan University has named Jared Williamson, the head coach at Division II Roosevelt University in Chicago, its new head football coach.

Williamson replaces Norm Eash, who guided the Titans for 38 seasons. Williamson becomes only the program’s third head coach in 71 years. He previously served as an assistant at IWU under Eash from 2006 to 2010.

Williamson has been a head coach for the past 15 seasons, first at Robert Morris University in Chicago — and then at Roosevelt, after it merged with Robert Morris and became a Division II.

“I was impressed with his knowledge of the game and the relationships he built with our Titan student-athletes,” IWU athletic director Mike Wagner said in a news release. “Now, returning with more than a decade of experience as a head coach and who he is as a person, I am confident that he is the right person to lead the Titan football program, both on and off the field.”

Williamson was RMU’s first head coach starting in 2010 ahead of its first season in NAIA [National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics] play.

Illinois Wesleyan is a Division III institution, which does not allow athletic scholarships.

Williamson’s career record as a head coach is 73-68.

“I am truly excited to continue the proud traditions of Titan football, knowing that the student-athletes at Illinois Wesleyan University receive not only a nationally-recognized education but also a one-of-a-kind social experience,” Williamson said.
