Bloomington-Normal voters have two opportunities this holiday weekend to hear from the candidates in the April 1 election.
On the ballot will be Bloomington and Normal mayors and several city and town council seats – all nonpartisan races – plus a referendum on sales tax funding for schools.
The McLean County Republican Party will host a candidate forum for the mayoral candidates from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at Freedom Baptist Church, 2006 Fox Creek Road, Bloomington. The event is free but an RSVP is required. Doors open at 11 a.m.
The Bloomington & Normal Trades & Labor Assembly and the Livingston & McLean Counties Building & Construction Trades Council will host a candidates night at 6:30 p.m. Monday at Laborers Local 362 Hall, 2012 Fox Creek Road, Bloomington. The candidates for Bloomington and Normal mayors, Bloomington City Council contested wards, Heartland Community College trustees, and Normal Township supervisor are invited to speak. The event is free and open to the public.
Early voting begins Feb. 20.
