Ryan Pedon is in his third season as Illinois State men's basketball coach.

The Illinois State men’s basketball team will play in the postseason for the first time since 2017.

The Redbirds, who have a 19-14 record and previously announced they would accept a bid to the College Basketball Invitational [CBI] learned on Sunday they would play Presbyterian College.

The game is set for 1 p.m. central time on Saturday. All games in the 12-team field will be played at the Ocean Center in Daytona Beach, Florida.

The Presbyterian Blue Hose, out of Clinton, South Carolina, are members of the Big South Conference and finished the regular season with a 14-18 record.

The Redbirds and Blue Hose have never played head-to-head before. The winner will advance to the quarterfinal round on March 24. The semifinals are set for March 25 and the championship game is scheduled for March 26.

ISU women

The Redbird women’s basketball team [21-12] accepted a bid to the WNIT on Sunday. Their assignment in the 48-team field will be announced on Monday.

ISU fell to Drake in the quarterfinals of the Missouri Valley Conference Tournament on Friday in Evansville, Indiana.

The WNIT invite clinches a fifth-consecutive consecutive postseason bid for the ISU women.

Opening round games will be played March 20-22. The championship is set for April 5.
