Here are 3 things to do for the weekend of March 21-23, 2025, curated by WGLT's Lauren Warnecke. You can find more coverage on our Datebook - Arts & Music page or by subscribing to WGLT's Weekend Scoop email newsletter, which goes out every Friday.
Try a new band: Chicago band Daisychain takes cues from The Who, Velvet Underground and The Mamas & the Papas. The bluesy psych rock trio’s sound folds in fuzzed and slide guitar plus airy, contemplative lyrics, creating something that’s both fundamental and fresh. 8 p.m. Friday at Jazz UpFront; $10-$15 at jazzupfront.com.
Don't stop believin': It’s the final weekend for Rock of Ages, Community Players’ homage to ‘80s hair bands—which includes the rare addition of a live, on-stage band. Through Sunday at Community Players Theatre; tickets $10-$20 at 309-663-2121 and communityplayers.org.
Pour yourself a cup of ambition: Through a partnership between Illinois Libraries Present and Bloomington Public Library, you can view the award-winning documentary 9 to 5: The Story of a Movement this weekend without getting out of your sweatpants. The film follows the push for workplace equity and wage discrepancy—a movement which inspired the iconic feature film starring Dolly Parton, Jane Fonda and Lily Tomlin. 2 p.m. Friday through midnight Sunday; free.
