The Bloomington Area Career Center is getting a fresh look and a new name. District 87 is rebranding its workforce development program as the Bloomington Career Academy [BCA].
The Academy serves high schoolers across McLean County, providing career-focused educational programs including culinary arts and auto maintenance. This fall, the BCA will move from its Locust Street location into renovated space at the newly named Willie G. and Gloria Brown Education Center on Oakland Avenue in Bloomington. The facility will house updated, specialized classrooms, kitchens, automotive workspaces and technical training areas to accommodate in-demand career training in fields such as cybersecurity, culinary arts, graphic design and robotics.
"This is an incredible milestone for Bloomington Career Academy and the students we serve," BCA Director Bryce Hansen said in a statement. "With this rebrand and our relocation to the Willie G. and Gloria Brown Education Center, we are reaffirming our dedication to providing high-quality, career-focused education that meets the evolving needs of today’s workforce."
The center plans to continue partnering with local businesses and educational institutions to provide students with hands-on training, trade certifications and dual credit opportunities.
