ISU women's basketball ends with 24 wins after falling in WNIT Fab 4

Maya Wong scored 13 points in Illinois State's 99-96 loss to Troy in the WNIT Fab 4 on Wednesday at CEFCU Arena.

The ISU women's basketball team's run through the WNIT ended on Wednesday night.

The Redbirds fell, 99-96, in the tournament's Fab 4 to Troy in front of a crowd of 2,406 at CEFCU Arena.

The Redbirds carried a 71-64 lead into the fourth quarter and an Addison Martin layup with 7:02 remaining gave ISU an 80-72 advantage before the Trojans rallied with 10 unanswered points to take the the lead.

There were seven lead changes in the final 4:13 of the game, with Troy taking the lead for good on an Ashley Baez layup with 2:00 remaining.

Shannon Dowell led the Redbirds with a program postseason record and career-high 37 points.

Troy advances to the WNIT championship on Saturday against Buffalo.

ISU finished it's season with an overall record of 24-13.
