Here are 3 things to do for the weekend of May 9-11, 2025, curated by WGLT's Lauren Warnecke. You can find more coverage on our Datebook - Arts & Music page or by subscribing to WGLT's Weekend Scoop email newsletter, which goes out every Friday.

Get outside: According to the Farmer’s Almanac, it’s gardening time. Pick up starter plants at the Herb Guild of McLean County’s annual sale—and not just herbs. They’ll have tomatoes and peppers, plus native plants too. 9 a.m. Saturday at Atwood Wayside Park; details on the Herb Guild’s Facebook page.

Laugh out loud: Dave Krostal and Michelle Vought play George and Charlotte Hay in Moon Over Buffalo at Community Players. Ken Ludwig’s 1950s sitcom-esque farce centers two Hollywood hopefuls holed up in an upstate New York regional theater when they get a call from Frank Capra. Through May 18 at Community Players Theatre; tickets $9-$17 at 309-663-2121 and communityplayers.org.

Toast Mom: Specialty brunches are on tap at Destihl, Baxter’s, Shannon’s Five Star, and Downs’ Kickapoo Tearoom, plus the Normal Marriott, Bloomington’s Double Tree and Hy Vee, to name a few.
