Olympic gold medalist and figure skating icon Scott Hamilton is coming to Bloomington this fall.
Hamilton will be the keynote speaker at the Red Cross Evening of Stars event on Nov. 12.

The 30th annual event, held at the Brown Ballroom at Illinois State University, is the largest annual fundraiser for the Central Illinois chapter of the Red Cross.
Hamilton was a figure skating commentator on television for many years after he captured the Olympic gold medal in the 1984 Winter Olympics in Yugoslavia.
Hamilton has an Emmy Award nomination and has been inducted into the United States Olympic Hall of Fame and the World Figure Skating Hall of Fame.
Hamilton is a motivational speaker and cancer survivor. After his mother died of cancer, he created a foundation that researches cures for cancer and funds supports for survivors. Hamilton also is a best-selling author who runs two skating academies.
“Scott is not only an Olympic gold medalist, but also an inspiring advocate for resilience and hope," said Lyn Hruska, executive director of the Central Illinois Chapter of the American Red Cross.
