The Bloomington Public Library dedicated its expansion and renovation on Aug. 1, 2024.

Bloomington Public Library is looking for community input on what to include in its 2025 time capsule celebrating the first anniversary of a $25 million expansion and renovation project.

On Aug. 1 at 2 p.m., families will be invited to make their own time capsules with personal memorabilia and creations and art supplies provided by the library. At 3 p.m., the official time capsule will be filled with some items pre-selected by the staff, and some of the recommendations from the community. It will be stored in locked cast where it will remain untouched until 2050.

Community ideas will be accepted through July 28 and can be sent in by digital form on the library’s website. Recommendations must be able to fit within the capsule dimensions of 18.9 inches by 14.6 inches by 6.3 inches.

Library staff say not all ideas will be put in the capsule.
