The roof at Reconcile Church at 411 E. Mulberry St. in Bloomington collapsed Wednesday night.

The roof of Reconcile Church at 411 E. Mulberry St. collapsed Wednesday night and city officials say the building remains unstable.

A city spokesperson said no injuries were reported. Bricks could still be heard falling as late as 5:30 a.m. Thursday.

Police tape surrounded the building to keep cars and pedestrians away from the scene, and city officials said public works crews responded Wednesday night to place barricades at the location.

A Bloomington Police spokesperson said officers were called to the scene at 8:46 p.m. Wednesday. It was initially called in as a structure fire, but it was later determined to be strictly a roof collapse.

“[It] appears all the dust/debris in the air made it appear to be smoke initially,” said police spokesperson Bryce Janssen.

The building is deeded to Living Word Ministries, according to the city.
