The Creativity Center at 107 E. Chestnut St. is one of two sites hosting information booths and hands-on activities about wellness and the arts.

In a first-of-its-kind effort by the city of Bloomington, community partners focused on health and wellness through the arts are offering cost-free sessions as part of Arts & Health Day in two locations

The free, family-friendly event takes place from 9 a.m.-noon Saturday, July 19 at Franklin Park and the Creativity Center, 107 E. Chestnut St., in Bloomington.

Organized by the city’s Cultural Commission, the first annual Arts & Health Day features 15 like-minded organizations with activities and information booths, including CreatiVets, Carle Health, the Baby Fold, Young Yogi Yoga, the Veterans’ Treatment Court Mentor Program and West Bloomington Revitalization Project’s Book Bike, among others.

Mini classes start at 9:30 a.m., beginning with Zumba led by Shannon Ramirez. At 10 a.m., Threshold to Hope hosts a mandala art demonstration, and at 10:45 a.m., the Baby Fold will provide an overview of their programs and mission.
