Two 13-year-olds have been arrested in connection with a shots-fired incident over the weekend in Bloomington.

Bloomington Police responded to reports of gunfire around 2:30 a.m. Saturday and pursued several subjects into an alleyway off the 1000 block of North Prairie Street, near Franklin Park, police said. One subject was seen by officers pointing and firing a gun into the air. Upon seeing a squad car, they fled.

Officers apprehended two boys after a foot chase. One of the teens had a loaded gun in his possession at the time of his arrest, police said.

The two suspects being detained at McLean County Juvenile Detention Center face weapons charges, including reckless discharge of a firearm, aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and possession of a firearm without a valid FOID. They also are charged with resisting a peace officer.

There were no reported injuries or property damage resulting from the incident. Officers from Bloomington and Normal Police, as well as McLean County, assisted in the arrests.
