Unit 5 will host a public meeting Monday night to share information about an enrollment planning study underway that could lead to school boundary adjustments.

The virtual meeting is set for 6 p.m. Monday, Oct. 27, on Zoom. It will be led by Cropper GIS, an Ohio-based consultant that Unit 5 has hired to lead the study. The study will look at how Unit 5 school buildings are used, how to effectively use space throughout the district, and possible school boundary adjustments.

During Monday’s meeting, Cropper GIS will cover details about the process, how to stay informed, and what opportunities there will be for feedback. Unit 5 says there should be time at the end for questions following the presentation.

Unit 5 hasn't done large-scale boundary changes since the 2013-14 school year, although smaller updates have been made through the years, typically when there's been a new housing development planned, a district spokesperson said. A redistricting committee convened in 2017 but no changes were made.

Unit 5 says the current enrollment study should be finished by the end of March 2026.

Unit 5 is McLean County’s largest school district, with around 12,400 students and 1,650 employees.
